The data revolution

There is little doubt that the data revolution matters even much more in recent ICT4D literature and practice. The full realisation of an ICT4D initiative is when that data produced from technology contributes to timely decision-making and evaluation of existing domain activities. As valuable as data is, the ability to analyse and harness this data for decision-making is still a challenge for many in the global south, hence key research developments around data injustice and inequality.

Emerging from this, the question of ethical collection and use of data in ICT4D still remains a problem in the global south, where policies are not effectively implemented or used.  Inclusive ICT data collection, analysis, and use is, thus, fundamental.
